The Americorps Ambassador of Mentoring will report directly to the Program Director to develop documentation, data management processes, on-line instructional tools, website content, and MCAS trainining and support that implements best practices in all areas of the Stand and Deliver Mentoring Program, from recruiting and intake of volunteer mentors and students to match termination and exist procedures.
Duties will include working with the Program Director to strengthen the mentor-student database to provide better mentor screening, stronger mentor support, more complete exit data and more complete results and using this database to provide monthly activity reports.
Specific deliverables will include:
· A Mentor’s Handbook
· Guidelines for all Stand and Deliver students
· Enhanced Mentor and Student Application Packages
· A Stand and Deliver Employee Handbook
· An up-to-date database, including report templates
· Facts and data about Lawrence and the effects of mentoring

As part of their training,, the Ambassador will work closely with our Middle School Match Manager to manage an estimated 121 middle school matches, including assisting in the match making process, resolving match issues, tracking attendance, providing support and feedback to mentors and managing match terminations. The purpose of this activity is to provide the MMA with the firsthand, in-depth knowledge she or he will need to help formulate policies that will insure Stand and Deliver’s success long after the MMA leaves. However, the responsibility of maintaining successful matches rests with the Middle School Match Manager.
The Ambassador of Mentoring will also assist the Executive Director (ED) in recruiting individual volunteers at Corporate Partner Organizations. The ED will recruit the company and the company’s internal Stand and Deliver Coordinator, and establish the link between that Coordinator and the Ambassador. The MMA will assist the ED in conducting informational recruiting meetings and volunteer interviews at Corporate Partner Companies. A minimum of 14 volunteers from each partner company will be the success threshold.
At the end of the Ambassador’s tenure, he/she will have developed a formal procedures manual for each aspect of Stand and Deliver’s program; designed report templates from the program’s newly-revamped database; and together with the Program Director, created several additional mentor training opportunities.
